Prison Ministry in Nepal

Welcome to Prison Ministry in Nepal page

We have been serving the friends in prison since 2013, in cooperation with local prison department, to encourage, fellowship and to share the blessing we have. We believe prison is not a place of condemnation, but it is a place of correction and new life, and we believe that our little effort will change their life forever.

We make frequent visit to them and share how God has changed our lives and God can do the same in their life too. Any one, with clear motto and intention, can be a part of the prison visit program and we go there just to meet them and to show them how much we love them.

We go to prison, with supplies they need, we don't go empty handed. Some of the items we share with them are blankets in the winter, library and books, water filter set up, love feast, medical clinic, clothes distribution, Christmas program, awareness program and whatever need is the most.

There are nearly 75 detention centers in Nepal and most of them lack basic infrastructure such as toilet and bathroom, dining hall, study room, dormitories, library room, water filter, warm clothes.

Nepal prison houses nearly 16000 prisoners and out of which 5.5% are foreigners according to prison studies. People in prison suffers mainly with mental illness and depression.

Some centers have children in it with mother or father being sentenced and some are born in prison. There is a need of education and care for the children who know nothing about the situation.

We visit prison not because somebody told us to go there, we do this because we are simply touched by the words, 'I was in prison and you came to visit me' .

'Truly I tell you, whatever you did it for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me. "
